One of the unique architectural and historical ensemble, and the symbol of Plovdiv. The name of this place came from Turkish and means “The Gate of the Fortress”.

Ancient Roman stadium has form of horseshoe-180meters long with 30000seats. Some archeologists think that here were leaded games from the Septimus Severus time(193 - 211).
Forum-odeon complex |
The ODEON of Philippopoiis was found in 1988 during excavations in the northern part of the Forum by the archaeologists Z. Karov and M. Martinova.
Late antiquity Eirene roman mosaics |
The earliest mosaics date back to the 2nd century, but the 4th-5th mosaics are the most numerous. Roman mosaics decorated the representative public buildings and the rich homes of the ancient city.
Nebet Tepe hill Roman fortress |
On top Nebet Tepe are the remains of the first prehistoric settlement on Trihalmieto /the three hills/ , which grew into a town in the 12th century.
Round tower |
