Parks & nature in Plovdiv city
On the seven hills in the town of Plovdiv there are many green areas and parks.
Bunardzhika hill (Bunardzhika tepe) |
It is located in the central part of the city of Plovdiv. It was made a natural landmark in 1995 with a total area of 220 decares.
Culture and Relax park near Maritsa |
It is located in the region of Plovdiv Sports Centre, in close proximity to the Common grave/Bratska mogila/.
Dzhendem hill (Dzhendem tepe) |
Djendemtepe is the biggest and highest of the seven Plovdiv hills. It is located in the western part of town. In ancient times it was called the Mount of the Dryad Nymphs.
Maritsa river |
The Maritsa river is ca . 480 km long. It has its origin in the Rila Mountains in Western Bulgaria, flowing south east between the Balkans and Rhodope Mountains.
Plovdiv Zoo |
The zoological garden of Plovdiv is in the park, in close proximity to the Rowing base. It is a favorite place for walking for both citizens and guests of the city.
Sahat hill (Sahat tepe) |
As far back as the Ottoman Empire, on top of the hill there is the Clock tower. The earliest records about it date back to 1623, and it was built up to its present state in 1812.
The city garden (garden of Tsar Simeon) |
Designed and accomplished in the project of the Swiss Lyusien Shevalas, famous for being a court gardener of the Turkish sultan Abdul Azis in the end of the 19th century.
