Hissar Kapia in old town Plovdiv
Actually the gate exists on this place from deep antiquity. Below the level of the street pavement (kaldaram) are located the old foundations, dating back from Roman times, probably from the 2nd century and a remake from 12th-14th centuries. During the Renaissance and the early 20th century the gate was reconstructed and was saved from collapse. On the north of the fortress entrance the foundations of the old fortress wall, also converted in height during 12th-14th centuries, could be seen. This construction is used for a base for major revival house of Kuyumdzhioglu which bend over Hissar Kapiya. On the south the fortress wall absorbed in bosom of the yard of Sts. Konstantin and Elena Church. From outside of the eastern port small picturesque square is shaped, surrounded by church walls, the facade of Kuyumdzhieva’s house and the main facade of the home of Dimitar Georgiadi.
